Perfume Movie Story - Synopsis. This Thriller was released on december 27th 2006 and directed by Tom Tykwer. Patrick Süskind's novel Perfume is a story of murder set in the 18th century in France. Jean-Baptiste Grenouille creates the world's finest perfumes. he becomes obsessed with capturing the irresistible odeur of young womanhood. Twelve young girls are found murdered as Grenouille's obsession becomes deadly. People try to protect their young daughters, while Grenouille still lacks the final ingredient to complete his perfume. Ben Whishaw, the British actor who won several awards for acting in the movie “My Brother Tom,” has the role of Jean-Baptiste Grenouille, the killer for the perfect scent. The movie also stars Karoline Herfurth, Alan Rickman and Dustin Hoffman.
